The provincial athletic championship meeting took place yesterday on the Basin Reserve. About a thousand spectators were present. A strong, cold .southerly wind interfered considerably with the racing, and the majority of the times recorded was poor. Only twice were the standards beaten, and in one case it could not ho allowed, .as the wind was dead behind the winners. Results:—

POSTLE V. DONALDSON. (Received 12, 10.35 a.m.) Melbourne, February 12. In an exhibition of running Pestle defeated Donaldson over seventy-five and a hundred yards. Donaldson previously competed throe two hundred and twenty yards events.
