Timaru, January 24. The junior cadet oliiqers, North and South Islands, now in the'; -training camp here, at a meeting passed resolutions protesting against the attacks on the junior cadet system that have appeared in some papers and opposing (I) the cadets being controlled by'the Defence Department; (2) substitution of local for central control, affirming that in the interests of education and defence the departments should he kept separate, and expressing complete confidence in the present administration of the junior cadet department and appreciation of the excellent work done on' behalf of the cadets by the headquarters staff.
