Christchurch, January 24

The report of the Hon. E. Mitchol.".on, and Messrs W. Ferguson and J. E. Watson, the commission appointed by the Lyttelton Harbour Board to consider the commercial and financial aspects of the SumnerOhristchurch canal proposal, was presented to the Board to-day. The commission says that the excellent harbour at Lyttelton with improvements of harbour and railway facilities can serve the purpose of the city for fifty years. It contends that the canal construction would result in a heavy annual loss.
