OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN OPENED IN LANCASHIRE.

London, January 23. _ Sir EdAvard Carson has opened Ins Lancashire anti-Horne Rule campaign. He said the Government’s insults culminated in a deliberate attempt to provoke disorder or cover Ulster with contempt. The Ulster Unionists Avould have been false to their principles had they come to any other decision. He added that the cost might be great,, and the suffering terrible, but they Avere determined to see the matter through. ' ' ; ;• T
SPEECH BY MR. HERBERT SAMUEL. < ‘ULSTER’S INTOLERANCE.” (Received 24, 8.15 a.m.) London, January 23. Mr. Herbert Samuel, speaking at Redcar, said that had Ulster’s intolerance prevailed England would have had no Empire. No colony, dependency or protectorate would have tolerated a rule so oppressive and arrogant.
