Sydney, January 19. New South Wales hanking averages for the December quarter siiow a drop of 3 per cent, in the proportion of cash to liabilities on the quarter. The September quarter was excessive. The total deposits on the year increased £5,263,000, and the advances increased £6,540,000 on the year—ls per cent. The half-yearly meeting of tire Commercial Banking Company showed a profit of £119,890. A 7 per cent, dividend, at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum, was declared. It was decided to increase the capital from £1,250,000 to £1,375,000. Matthews and Bennett's Report. Messrs. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a fair entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, prices being about the same. Quotations: Weaners £1 7s 6d to £1 10s 6d, steers £3 to £3 Bs, heifers £3 Is to £3 Bs, bulls £3 to £4 7s 6d, store cows £2 6s to £3 7s, forward cows £4 to £4 ss.

All classes of stock sold readily at the hammer or immediately iftpnvards. We quote: 31- to 4 year fresh and forward bullocks £6 7s 6d to £6 11s. 2 year steers £4 9s, forward cows £4 7s to £4 11s, fresh do. £3 12s 6d to £4. stores £3 3s to £3 10s, yearling to 15 month steers £2 15s to £3 3s 6d, vearling heifers £2 10s to £2 1.55. Our next Stratford cattle sale will bo held on Tuesday, 30th inst.. and qur annual Stratford sheep fair on Wednesday, 31st.
