LONDON PRO DOCK MARKET.

Following is a copy of the weekly report (dated December 7th) received by Mr Newton King from Messrs It. and W. Davidson, Glasgow:—

Butter.—Continental: The market this week ruled very quiet, and buyers wero successful in filling their requirements at a shade under last week’s prices. There is some little stock left over. Telegraphic advices from Copenhagen state fine market there was dull, and the quotation today has boon declared unchanged. Danish and Swedish: The total arrivals of Danish this week show a further decrease of 244 casks. The market was quiet, and stocks have not entirely cleared. Prices to-day for choicest quality, 137 sto 13Ss. Siberian : Shipments this week total about 3000 casks. The demand has been somewhat quieter unless for good secondary quality, which appears to be getting rather scarce. We are quoting fancy at 122 s to 1265, choice 116 s to 120 s, secondary 112 sto 114 s. French; The market continues firm. The quantity arriving continues very small. Australian: Arrivals this week show a grand total of fully 61,000 boxes, the s.s. Macedonia having 47,242 boxes, the Argyllshire 13,600, and the Everton Grange 69,5. The market opened quiet and steady, hut as the week progressed sellers have been forced to accept a little less money. We should say that for the week prices show a reduction of about 2s per cwt. To-day’s prices for strictly choice quality 126 s to 128 s, medium and secondary goods are quoted from 120 s up to ,1245. Saltless butter meets with a rather poor inquiry; this is caused ■principally by the fact that large quantities of saltless with preservative are on the market, and is being pre sented for sale at 126 s to 128 s. The, reason of so much non-preservative I utter being on the market at present is because foreign markets have failed dealers on this side. For butter of choice quality' “with preservative ’ ;130s is the general price.' New Zealand : The market remains steady, choicest qualities being quoted 1325. The next arrival per s.s. lona is not due until the end of next week. Imports to the United Kingdom: The total figures up to the 2nd December of this year and for the corresponding period of ,1908, 1909, and 1910 are as follows :—I9OB, 3,873,415 cwt; 1909, 3,750,188 cwt; 1910, 3,937,844 cwt; 1911, 3,996,411 cwt. Cheese.—Canadian : The market continues firm with no alteration in value. Choicest white and coloured 69s to 71s. Now Zealand: These meet with a good steady demand, and arrivals are well cleared.
