Port Said, January 18

Lord Kitchener and Sir Francis Wingate, .representatives of the Khedive, greeted their Majesties, who landed and held a reception to the sliieks and chiefs of the Upper Nile tribes, many of whom travelled hundreds of miles.

The King, in a speech, extolled the chivalrous General Gordon and Tewiik Bey’s defence of Sinkat in 1884, and said the object of the present administration was to bring the Soudan into closer touch with civilisation.

Tlleir Majesties wore entertained at Sinkat, .and reviewed the Soudanese troops, including 8500 camelry. They witnessed native dances and returned to the steamer Medina.
