The Federation Flying Race from Parcngarenga, competed for by members of the Wellington, Wairarapa and Manawatu flying clubs, was won by J. Dixon’s bird (Masterton), 1305 yards per minute. R. Edwards’ (Palmerston North) were second and third.

At a meeting held here to-night preliminary arrangements wore put in hand for carrying through of the .New Zealand amateur athletic championships, which have this year been allotted to Invercargill.
SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE
Hawera, January 19
■At a well-attended meeting last night it was decided to form a branch of the New Zealand Sports Protection League, and a local executive was elected comprising representatives of practically every branch of sport in existence in the district.
