On February isi, says “drudge” ui | the Wanganui “Herald,” we are to nave the West Coast Championship Carnival, which is being run by the Victoiia Amateur Swimming Club at the District High School baths, 'ibis club, although only in its second year, has a large membership oi keen sports, and they are to be congratulated on their pluck in undertaking such a big thing (.to a swimmer’s mind) as the West Coast championships. lam told it is mainly duo to Captain 1 urnuull and his energetic committee, who are putting their souls into it to make it a successful and enjoyable meeting, both for swimmers and spectators. . . . Tne programme will be published very soou< and ,it is bound to be a good one, with the lour championship events,, a number of open races, divine- and novelty events, and sonietjung for tne boys. it will be divided into two parts—afternoon and evening. For tile latter part tlie committee are having installed six large, arc lights, aiid numerous small ones tor tne dressing-rooms, so that on tne night the baths will present a very bright and gay scene.
