COLLECTIVE OWNERSHIP MOTION DEFEATED. UNIFYING THE STATES. (Received 9, 10.10 a.m.) Hobart, January 9. At the Labour Conference only press men representing Labour papers wore admitted. A motion to amend the Federal objective, providing for an additional clause for settling international disputes by the Council of a civilised nation, was rejected, as was also a clause for tiio securing of full results of industry to all wealth producers by the. collective ownership of all tiie means of production, which bad boon proposed to replace a. clause pnividbig for a similar result by collective ownership of monopolies. A motion for the unification of the States was under discussion when the Conference adjourned. Mr. Fisher, though not favouring straigbtout Unification, declared that the Federal Government should have greater powers.
