FIRES.
Sydney, January 8. Rickards’ large boardinghouse at .Monavale, which was crowded with visitors, was destroyed by lire. 'The damage is estimated' at £IO,OOO. The house was insured in the New Zealand Insurance Company for £OOOO. Levin, January 8. A house at Manakau, occupied by J. W. Bolton, was completely destroyed, with the contents, this monrng. The insurance on the house was £950 in the State Oilice. It has not been ascertained whether the furniture was insured.
