• NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION’S . - MEETING. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, January S. The Northern Bowling Association’s tournament commenced, to-day, in splendid weather, with the greens in excellent condition. There are one hundred rinks, making four hundred players engaged, representing fifty:wo clubs, ranging from Westport to Dunedin in the South and West, to Auckland and Gisborne in the North .md East. In opening the tournament, Mr. J. Keith, Ires.dent of tiie Association, said the entry of a hundred rinks was the largest in the history of the Association, and a record for the Dominnion. In the interests of the Association the Council had eliminated the pairs matches from the programme. The Association -was now in its twen-ty-first year. It started with fifteen clubs, having a membership of five hundred, and there are now sixty-two dulls affiliated, with a total membership of over 4300. FIRST ROUND RESULTS.
