FIRE BRIGADE FETE.

-'THE'CARNIVAL SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED. if J'LIST ©I 1 - -PERFORMERS. '.} “The Dancing Tour of the World,” concluded its giddy course, so far as Stratford is concerned on Saturday night. It is a pity that the good houses came so late in the season, as it is not anticipated tluifc the profits will do much mor'e "thaiT" TnW~tOr a‘ spare set of tyres for the much wanted motor engine. Neither Professor Cardstou nor his two hundred assistants! arei indniy -way to-- blame;for the; non-sticcess! pm the,^iiMiin'cial,-:srde;:;Pro-fessor Gurdston-rcaTivd here with 1 fft big reputation, and ho has amply’fulfilledthe good things that have been said about him elsewhere. He has worked under great disadvantages, not the least of them ill-health and has proved himself a veritable miracle-worker. The Carnival was bright, striking, and what is more ’ important, new. Too much cannot he said in praise of the performers. Many of the grown-ups gave their Christmas holidays to the Carnival, when they gave their services. The youngsters practiced assiduously. Their dancing 'and singing were both excellent, and h„..i the manner in which they perferrned it is presumable that the enjoyment they gave to other .was only exceeded by the enjoyment which they ts derived from the Fete, On the last night the big’ house .loudly applauded the successive scenes. Little Miss Grubb, in particular, was enthusiastically encored for her singing in “Cheery Blossom Time.” The dainty manner in which the little girl returned thanks for the bouquets presented to her was simply great. Miss Eileen Bernard, and Miss Patti Elliot, received tangible appreciation of their efforts, in the shape of boxes of chocolates. These two little girls were the life and soul of the Carnival, and there was never a dull •’moment while they were on tho boards.
