In the presepce of half a _ million spectators Their Majesties witnessed two pageants, the ‘ first representing the Mahommedan New Year’s Day procession of Nurshidabad of a hundred- years ago, and the second a procession of Hindu and Dasahara princes. Thirty States contributed to the spectacle, which took an hour to pass, md included 57 elephants and 35 camsis. Indiscribable popular enthusiasm was shown, in spite of fears to the contrary, owing to the removal of the Cap’tab The city was splendidly illuminated.
