LATE LOCALS.
The shortage in the “hoy” market is shown by an advertisement which appears in another column, the local Postmaster having to advertise to increase the local staff of telegraph messengers. Usually there are more applicants than vacancies. Ensign and Mrs. Wilson, who have been in charge of the local corps of the Salvation Army for some time, have received notice of transfer to Otahnhn, Auckland, for which place they will leave next Tuesday. Eltham is not unique in having residents with Pacific Slope proclivities. It is stated that many people would he relieved if they know of the whereabouts of a certain Stratford resident, whose bright smile has not been much in evidence recently.
