HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. A real holiday audience greeted the change of programme at His Majesty’s theatre last night, and all the films screened met with hearty approval. Chief among the dramatic films was “Her Sacrifice,” a Spanish love story. A young gentleman of high family on returning from school ro his home is smitten with the charms of an inn-keeper’s daughter. His mother suspects, by his actions, that something is toward and the young man is tracked by a servant, who brings the mother to the spot just after the young lovers have plighted their troth.' The mother makes a scene, the girl leaves, and • the son obediently follows his mother home. He is introduced to a gentlewoman whom his mother desires .aim to wed. '1 lie mother next proceeds to the inn and interviews the young lady of the house, and she pleads with her to such purposes—“if you love him you will give him up”—that the young lady promises to do so. But, nevertheless, her love is still strong foi the young fellow. He once again visits the inn, but the young woman, true to her promise to his mother, pretends to be the chosen of one of the inn habitues, and scorns the man she loves. When lie departs, her quickly made lover is also scorned and, in distracted mood, sue . wanders to the young man’s house, where, on the piaswse siie sees him .much absorbed in his mother’s choice, and she disappears. The man whom she has used as a foil, has,. however, to be reckoned with. He thinks the girl is deserting .him for the gentleman, and he determines to kill him. Therefore lie also proceeds to the mansion, and sees his quarry leave—on his way to the inn. He follows, and is, in turn, followed by the girl. The climax is reached when the girl is killed through rushing in when her lover is fired at. Other excellent dramas were The Boy Trainer,” “An Englishman’s Honour,” and “The Mother.” In the instructive section were “!A. Trip on Lake Constance,” “Ban from a Dirigible,” “Seashores of Italy,” and “Boot Making.” The comic films—“ Course of True Love,” “ilebelli ous Blossom,” “Hill Takes Cine. Pictures” and “Artful Tweedledum”—were well up to standard. The programme will be repeated this evening. To-morrow evening another big change takes place, when the following star pictures will be screened:— “The Buried Past,” “The Latent Spark,” “'Phe Bucauecrs,” “After .Manv Years”, (all dramas of the first water), “She 'Triumphs,” “Dr. Knows all,”. “Surprise __ Party” (screaming comics), “Scientific harming,” “Gorges of Cainnes,” “Bathe Gazette.” The whole forms, on the whole, a real city show of exceptional merit.
