THAT HALF-HOLIDAY.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”)
Sir, —Would you kindly allow mo space in your .valuable columns to say a few words re the half-holiday. Some of the business people say if Saturday was the half-holiday it will not suit the farmers. Well, that is just where they are making a hig mistake. It will suit the farmer host, and his wife, too, because they can prepare for Sunday. A farmer’s wife likes a clean house for Sunday, but if the sales are held on Saturday instead of Friday, it means a big burden for her. There are hundreds, in fact, most of the farmers, who would like the sales on Friday. Then, if they buy anything and have not the convenience to take it home, they can come and get it before Sunday. In fact, there are a hundred ways it suit Ircst. Shopkeepers could go right away from Saturday until Monday morning if they wished.—l am, etc., FARMER. Stratford, December 30, 1911.
