The “Herald” states that there seems .little doubt that something is afoot in regal’d to the J|ew' Hebrides. ’Whether the ■‘final- solution will take the form of a partition of the group between Britain and Franee or annexation and exchange of territory elsewhere was exercising the minds of those interested. Had Australia annexed the islands a few years ago when all European residents were British there would have been no foreign opposition, but this was one of many opportunities Australia had lob slip. • Under. i present conditions the New.
