Newton King’s Stratford Weekly Report.
At the Hay-market on Saturday there was a large attendance, but only a moderate yarding of pigs. I quote; Slips and weaners 10s 6d to 17s 6d, poor and backward sorts 5s to 7s, small stores £1 ss, medium do. £1 10s, Sows £2 17s, lambs 9s to 14s 3d, calves Is 6d to 7s 6d, horses £5 10s to £6 10s, dray £l4 10s, gig £9 10.
At the Mart—Poultry: A large entry of all classes of birds came to hand all of which met with good demand; with the exception of killing hens which were a little easier, geese 2s 9d to 3s'3d, ducklings 2s to 2s 3d, ducks 2s to 2s 4d, oockerills Is 3d, hens Is to Is Gd new potatoes Id to Id per lb, old potatoes 7s 6d per sack, Cabbages 2s Gd doz, goosel)erries 2s Gd per 10 lb case, plums (cherry) Is 9d to 2s 3d case, dark plums 5s to 5s Gd. Furniture and sundries at usual rates.
