TRAMWAY CRISIS.

A SERIOUS POSITION IN WELLINGTON. INSPECTOR OBJECTED TO. (Per Press Association. - ) Wellington, December 26. A serious crisis has been reached in connection with the city tramways. At the City Council meeting last Tuesday the Council, on the casting vote of the Mayor, decided to transfer to another department an inspector whom the conductors objected to. Mr Atkinson, however, afterwards gave notice of motion to rescind this resolution. Meanwhile the inspector has been kept on duty, so the conductors have given notice to go off duty on New Year’s day unless the inspector is removed from duty.
