Fair weather favoured the first day’s racing of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting. The course and grounds were in lino order and there was a large attendance of the public. The sum of £9520 passed through the totalisator, as against £6613 in the previous year. In the box with Mr Piggott during the day was Mr J. R. L. Stanford, who was recently appointed judge for our local meeting at the New 5 car. 4 he following are the details of the day’s racing : Hnatoki Plate, of 50 sovs. Weight for ago.
