COTTON MILL OWNERS FAVOUR A LOCK-OUT.
THE MINIMUM WAGI

The Blackburn mill owners have instructed their delegates at the cotton workers and spinners’ conference to support a lock-out. Tim Durham coal miners declined to accede to the demand for an individual minimum wage, irrespective of the amount of work done.
SHORT SHIFT QUESTION
London, December 22. The Northumberland miners are dissatisfied with the Federation’s refusal to take action in regard to the short shift question. This creates a setback to their aggressive policy and may possibly lead to their withdrawal from the federation.

The Accrington strike was precipitated by the refusal of a man and wife to become unionists.
