A SEA-WATER CURE.
During the recent lieat wave in England, mortality amongst children rose enormously, the trouble being infantile cholera. At the height
of the epidemic it was announced that a wonderful method of treating the cholera by hypodermic inj-vt.ous of modified sea-water had boon discovered in Paris. A charitable dispensary was opened in London, and immediately scores of tired, anxious mothers with tlie’r sick babies besieged the place. The treatment consists of injecting carefully-graduated doses ol modified sea-water into the soft tis sues immediately underlying tlm skin. No matter how ill the babi-.-s seem, they are not too ill tor an injection. Lying face clove vird cm th-nr mothers’ knees, the i ttle patients as a rule do not seem to m nd the treatment in the least after th., first sharp prick of the hollow platinum needle through winch the seawater Rows. It is reported that almost miraculous cures resulted. More than a hundred cases had been treated when the mail 'eft. Babies whose own doctors gave them up, who had been unable to retain food of any kind foi days, whose icy bands an 1 almost comatose state had left their mothers hopeless and helpless, had improved almost beyond recognition alter a single close of the wonderful sea-water.
