(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Sydney, December 18. Two little girls named Duncan were run down at a level crossing at Tcralba and killed. The British Association Football conference adopted a series of resolutions with the object of popularising and improving the standard of play, including regular inter-State and in-ter-Doimnion matches, and holding a carnival in Melbourne at" ah early date. It was also resolved that the time was opportune for the formation of an Australian Council. A committee was appointed to draft a constitution for tne Council. In view of the opinions expressed it appeared that New Zealand did not desire inclusion in the Council. The “Herald’s” midharvest estimate of the wheat yield is 20,600,000 bushels, an average of about ten bushels. The Zealandia is quarantined owing to an outbreak of diphtheria. Measures are to be taken after coaling, and when it is safe to do so she will depart for New Zealand. The annual report of the Temperance and General Mutual Life Society shows a profit of £52,000. The sum assured is over £6,500,000. It was resolved to increase the bonuses on ordinary policies and to distribute a reversionary bonus to all participating in industrial policies ton years old or over.
Perth, December 18. Heavily laden with passengers, a train collided with the tail of a goods train overlapping the points. The overlapping portion and the passenger engine were smashed. The passengrrs were badly shaken by the impact, but were uninjured.
