In the Comtcssc Domain blackmail case at Bow street, evidence was given that Glendening and Page demanded £IOOO, which was eventually reduced to £IOO. Cross-examining the Comtesse, counsel asked if O’Connor was a very impecunious man. The Comtesse replied he had £3500 a year when she lirst knew him. He might have part of that now. The magistrate later intervened and said the /whole cross-examination was directed to throwing mud. Counsel angrily dissented, and a scene ensued. Tho magistrate ordered an adjournment. DOBBIE’S DESIRES. (Received 18, 8,45 f i\-.m.) London, December 17. The Countess Demavin, in cross-ex-amination, declared that Dobbic wished her to marry him and settle five hundred a vear on him. ,
