HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT (Per Press Association.) Wellington, December 13 Following is the High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, December 12 (quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot):— Eggs.—Prices are firm “for newlaids. Otherwise the market is dull, with a downward tendency. There is large supply. Per 120: Home 16s 6d to 13s, Russian 7s 6d to 10s. Italian 14s to 16s, Danish 15s to 19s, Austrian 8s 3d to 12s, Dutch 13s Gd to 225, French 14s to 19s. Poultry.—The market is quiet, but firm. Chickens.—Homo 7d to 9d per lb, Russian 7id to 8-id. Ducklings.—Home 7d to Sid. Turkeys.—Home 9d to Is, Continental 7d to Bjd, French 8d to 9kl. Bacon.—The market is quiet but steady. There is fair demand at the rates named below. Sides: Irish 60s to 60s per cwt, Continental 48s to 58s, Canadian 48s to 545, American 48s to 5 Is. Hams.—The market is quiet, with small business doing in large sizes. The smaller sizes are scarce. Irish 78s to 102 s per cwt., English 90s to 112 s, Canadian 56s to 675, American 52s to 625. LONDON MARKETS. Following are excerpts from the produce report, dated November 2nd, supplied by Mr. Newton King by Messrs. R. and W. Davidson, Glasgow : Continental Butters.—Owing to the larger arrivals, the market has been rather depressed, and prices are a shade easier. Stocks were not entirely cleared, buyers holding off. The general opinion appears to bo that values will have to be still further reduced before good trading can be experienced. Out' telegraphic advices from Copenhagen indicate that the market there continues to be very dull, and the quotation to-day has been declared three kroner down. Danish and Swedish: The total arrivals to this country this week show an increase of 2096 cask's. The market was dull and depressed, prices were reduced 2s to 3s per cwt. Considerable quantity is left over unsold. Secondary goods are very difficult to move, choicest quality 134 s to 1365. Siberir an: The arrivals' ’this week show a further heavy decrease, the'total arrivals’ only beinA about 5000 casks. There has been a somewhat improved demand, choicest quality meeting with more enquiry at slightly firmer prices. Wo quote choicest quality 120 sto 1225, ordinary finest 114 s to 118 s. Secondary is irregular, with prices ranging from 108 sto 112 s. ' French: Values remain unchanged. Very little butter coming forward for disposal. Australian Butter.—Arrivals this week show a further increase, the s.s. Ophir having 14,473 boxes, and the Themistoclcs having 969 boxes. There has been some improvement in demand, and arrivals are moving steadily into consumption. Choicest salted may bo quoted at 126 s to 128 s, choicest unsalted, which is scarce, 130 s to 1325. Secondary descriptions meet with a slow demand, and prices for this grade range from ll6s to 1245. New Zealand Butter—The s.s. Ruapehu is due to dock to-day with the first small shipment from this Dominion, Prices have not been established so far, but they are expected to open about 130 s to 1325. Canadian Cheese.—Cables arc again coming somewhat easier, today’s prices being 67s to 67s 6d c.i.f. Spot market continues quietly steady at from 68s to 70s for choicest white and coloured. New Zealand Cheese.—There is still no arrival, sellers continue to quote for the season at 60s c.i.f., hut buyers are very scarce at this figure. Imports.—The total figures up to 28tli October of this year, and for the corresponding period of 1908, 1909 and 1910. are as follows:—Butter: 1908, 3.513,683 cwt.; 1909, 3,399,468 cwt.; 1910, 3.553,793 cwt.; 1911, 3.615,864 cwt. Cheese: 1908, 1.915.183 cwt.: 1909, 1.917,858 cwt.; 1910, 2,0114,812 cwt.; 1911, 1,992,347 cwt.
