GREAT ATTEMPT TO SAVE A DROWNING MAN. CORONER’S COMMENDATION. Wellington, December 12. At the inquest concerning the death of Robert Dobson, drowned while

bathing at Lyall Bay on Sunday, the

evidence showed that Edward Levy, captain of the Surf Club, made several attempts to rescue the drowning man, who got excited and pulled his rescuer under the water. Levy signalled the shore, but apparently his signals were not seen. A verdict of “Accidentally Drowned” was returned, the Coroner commending Levy for his plucky attempt at rescue. i.
