At the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr. C. I). Sole, J.P., Patrick J. Dempsey, who was arrested at Bird Road this morning by Sergeant McNeely and Constable Mackintosh, was charged with having failed to make due provision for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, and was remanded to appear at Christchurch next Wednesday. At St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Stratford, this afternoon, Mr. R. N. Melville (of the well-known firm of La mason and Melville) was united in matrimony to Miss Margaret McGregor, late of Reefton. The bride, who wore her travelling dross (a navy blue costume), was attended by Miss Nellie O’Shea as bridesmaid. Mr. Charles Potts acted as best man, Mr. and Mrs. Melville loft after the ceremony for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent.
