The “Herald” says: The voting so far lias disclosed a state of feeling which must be as unwelcome to the Prime Minister as it was unexpected to the people in general. A meeting of citizens held at To Kuiti on Saturday night decided to inaugurate a presentation to Mr W. F. Jennings. The proposed testimonial will take the form of a purse of sovereigns. The centres throughout the electorate are being circularised and a large total is expected. Levin, December 11. A meeting of the committee supporting Mr. Robertson, the Labour candidate for Otaki, hold at Levin on Saturday, passed a resolution condemning the action of Mr. Mack’s committee (Parnell) in deciding to support Sir John Findlay. The resolution called on Labour throughout the colony to vote out Wardism. There is keen excitement regarding the second ballot here. On good authority it is stated that a prominent Oppositionist from Wellington has instructed the local officials of the Opposition candidate that they must support Mr. Robertson at the second ballot. It is further reported that Mr. Massey favours Mr. Field in preference to Mr. Robertson. Endeavours are now being made to get the Leader of the Opposition to give a-definite statement to his loyal followers.
