MINING SWINDLE.

A ROSY TALE FOR CREDULOUS PEOPLE. PROMOTERS PROSECUTED. (Received 9, 11.55 a.m.) Washington, December 8. Investigation has,been welcomed in the alleged great mining swindle before the Courts at Seattle. A. H. and C. A. Moore were charged with using the United States mails with intent to defraud. They promoted the Alaska Mining Co., advertising itself as owning live thousand acres of gold bearing lands, stating that eleven thousand pounds had been collected in stock and subscriptions, and that three hundred men had been taken to Alaska to work in developing the property. A dividend of twenty per cent was promised. It is now alleged that most of the money went into the pormoters’ pockets a,nd nothing was clone.
