The Queensland batting collapsed, the remaining eight wickets inly adding 59 runs. The bowling of Barnes and Foster was splendid, and the fielding was smart, England played carefully and the scoring “was slow. Mead had a lucky innings, but Foster was splendid. SOUTH AUSTRALIA v. NSW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, December 4. New South Wales, in the first innings, scored 316. Trumper 47, Bardsley 58, Waddy (not out) 78, and Cotter 82 were the chief scorers. Cotter gave a remarkable display of slogging. He hit four sixes and six fours, scoring 80 in 40 minutes, and with Waddy scored a century in 37 minutes. Macartney only scored 2, showing poor form. Bowling analysis: Whitty, two for 95; Crawford, one for 69; Wright, throe for 40; Rees, four for 94. South Australia in the first innings has lost five wickets for 164. Hill 59, Dolling 28, Chamberlain (not out) 26, and- Mayno 21, are the chief scorers.
