WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. (Per Press Associatibn.) Wellington, December 4. ijvool opened-.to-day. The catalogues’' offered totalled 6890 bales. Americans operating gave a fillip to the market. Prices were above the parity of London, and .a half-pen-ny to three-farthings' above the last Wellington sales.

Following is the High, Commissioner’s cable, dated Loudon, December 2 (quotations unless othferwi.se specilicd are average market prices on spot);— Mutton.—Stocks of mutton on hand are light, and firmly held in few hands. There is dull said'for all qualities, and the quantity I ‘g'h&g into consumption at present ' ‘fs very small. Canterbury 4gd, North Islaud 4 d. Lamb—There is a better tone in the market this week with limited demand, but the stock is small, and supplies of Canterbury are nearly exhausted. Canterbury ofd, other than Canterbury 4-Jd. Beef.—The market is quiet hut firm at advance. New Zealand hinds 3§d, New Zealand fores 2|d. Pork.—The market is weak and inactive at 4)d. Butter.—The market is firm, but buyers are more reserved on account of high prices. The value to-day is for all descriptions at about the quotations already given—viz., New Zealand 1325, Australian 1295, Danish liUs, Siuqrian 1255, Argentine 130 s. The shipment of butter ex s.s. Rotorua arrived in goed condition. Cheese.—The market is quiet but firm. The shipment of cheese ex s.s. Rotorua arrived in good condition, average price for the week for nnesb Now Zealand cheese per cwt. was 6Bs to js9s, Canadian 70s. Hemp.—The market is quiet, but steady. New Zealand good fair grade on spot per ton £l9 15s, fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £20," forward snipmeut New Zealand good fair £2O, fair grade £l9 ss, fair current Manila £2O ss. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed. —The market remains firm.
Wheat.—the market is steady, but with no demand. New Zealand' longberried wheat cx granary per quarter of 4961b5, 35s 6d, short-berried 34s 6d. (quotations nominal). Oats.—The market is firm, with a hardening tendency. Short sparrowhills ex granary per quarter of 3841 b 22s 6d, Danish per quarter of 3201 b 19s.
Beans.—New Zealand beans f.a.q. (new crop), per 5041 b, 3Gs. Prices firmer. Peas.—-The market very quiet, and nothing is doing. New Zealand partridge", per 50411), 39s 6d (nominally). Wool.—The market is active, with good demand. Crossbreds is slightly dearer. Mutton and Lamb.—River Plate shipments received during November: MUTTON.
