THROWN ON BEAMS ENDS BY SHIFTING BALLAST. THE CREW’S HARD WORK. (Received 4, 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, December 4. The barque Ketty has arrived at Newcastle with the crew of the abandoned barque Lakemba. The captain of the latter states that on October 9th he met with a heavy gale and enormous seas. He hove to during the night. The sand ballast shifted, and the ship heeled over on her beam ends. The crew worked hard to right her for two days and then the Ketty hove in sight. The Lakemba’s captain decided to abandon her as it was hopeloss to 'same her. The Lakemba was still floating when they left hut lie is of opinion that she will fill and sink.
