Napier, November 29. Contrary- to general expectations, the wool sale to-day opened witn great briskness, keen competition taking place for offerings. Tnis was the result of cable advice of a 5 per cent, rise at the London sales, and buyers found their limits extended accordingly. A total of 12,224 bales were oifered, the bulk of the wool being of really fine quality, and much heavier in fleece than last year’s early sale, file prices obtained Mere: —Light ini If bred 9:Jd, bright medium crossbred iOd, coarse ditto 9d, rough and uneven lots 7-id, pieces and bellies 5:1 to b‘d. ‘ .

TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES. Now ton King’s Report. On Tuesday, 21st instant, I hold my usual fortnightly sale of above produce, the catalogue comprising 19 bales and 95 sacks wool, 5475 snoopskins, .‘32 casks, 2 kegs, 1 drum and 42 tins tallow. 1180 hides, and 6778 calfskins besides the usual quantity of bones, horse hair, cow tails, etc. Wool.—Consequent on the wet weather interfering with shearing operations only a small quantity of wool came forward, but this mot with spirited and keen competition from an excellent attendance of buyers, the market being at par to -Rl higher with late rates. 1 anticipate a continuance of these prices at my next sale and advise growers to got their clips in early. Sheepskins also showed a rise of Id to id for dry and damp, suited being at par with' late rates under excited, competition, which continued throughout the sale. Tallow.—A large quantity offering, prices being 10s per ton better. Hides.—Superior cow in most cases were Id to jfd higher, ordinary cow and ox hides -Jd to and farmers’ cow, yearlings, and damaged hides Id higher. On Tuesday, 2lst, wo bold our fourweekly sale of above produce before a SI attendance of buyers. The cata.o comprised 1 bale and 8 bags wool, 623 sheepskins, 301 bides, 617 calfskins, 2 casks and 2 tins tallow, and a small quantity of horsehair. Wool.—'lllis offering consisted principally of odds and ends, the few lots of this season’s fleece sold indicating weak market. Sheepskins.—Prices on about a par with those ruling the previous mouth.
