THE MOROCCAN SQUABBLE
DISCUSSED BY THE, LORDS. London, November 29. In the House of Lords, Lord Courtney, in initiating a debate on Sir Edward Grey's statement, attacked the Government's policy in Morocco. Lord Morley said the essence of the 1904 agreement was that Britain should nave a free hand in the affairs of Egypt, and France ditto in .Morocco. J-C would be intolerable if Britain should take a. share of tlie profits, and then refuse France hers. There was no reason, why Germany's naval expansion should impair the desire for cordial friendship pervading tiie whole nation. It was natural Germany should desire to find territories for her surplus population. Lord Lansdowne stated that the 1904 agreement rendered a great international service. Sir Edward Grey's speech he described as one of the most remarkable' "a Foreign" Secretary over delivered. It echoed what he believed was a general desire for better relations with Germany. FRANCO-GEUM.AN AGREEMENT RATIFIED. Paris, November 29. The Committee of Foreign Affairs, by 15 to 2, ratified the agreement with Germany. Eight abstained from voting.
