Tlie results of this important competition are .of considerable interest to dairymen. The conditions were :—- First four Dlac-ed animals. First prize £lO 10s,~ and Messrs. t . ;u'J E. Jackson's silver cup> value £8 Ss, cup to be won outright, twice in succession ; second prize, Mr. J. McCluggage's special of £o ss; third prize, Mr. F. N. Fussell's special of £2 2s; fourth prize, Messrs. Kempthorne, Prosser and Co.'s .special, value £1 Is. Prizes to he awarded to the first, four cows in order of n-erit; and points to be computed as under: One-tenth' point for every lb. of milk in the four days, and twenty-five points for every lb, of butter-fat produced. Details are' as under : Mr; Fulton reports as follows:—"There were seventeen cows competing, the majority of which were in good condition for dairy cows; a few were rather poor. Only two cows wore covers. The paddocks and pastures were practically all that could be desired; the grass being good and plentiful and the whole pasturage was surrounded by high holts of trees and hedges. Throughout the four days' competition the weather was particularly good, and all cows contesting retained their normal health." The paddocks were provided for the Association by Mr. W. G. Malonej of Opunakc Road, and Mr. S. M. Forritt was supervisor on the Association's behalf.

DAIRY PRODUCE.

In the dairy produce classes there were four entries in the competition for Factory Export Butter, and only one in the class for private separator. Ngaire and Cardiff wore competitors in the Factory Cheese Classes, honours being fairly equal. A splendid lot of butter was shown by the twen-ty-six competitors who forwarded their exhibit of butter in-tlie class for best21b. Fresh Buttar. Competition" was keen, the winners of first and second places proving to be Messrs. W. T. Bayly and G. Perrott. both of Eltham. Mr. 6. Johnston (grader at New Plymouth) and Mr. W. M. Singleton (Dairy Division) acted as judges. Results in detail are as under:— Best Box Factory Butter, not less than 561 b., suitable for export; first prize Society's award of £5 ss, second £2 2s,' third £1 Is:
