Young, Hobbs and Co.’s Report.
At Stratford on Tuesday, ,21st, wo held our usual sale in conjunction with the Loan and Mercantile Co. This combined sale is the lirst of its kind tried in the province and was most satisfactory, going with a swing from beginning to end, there being a time limit for each lot, which necessitated less delay than would otherwise have been the case. Local and outside buyers were in attendance and market rates were fully maintained. We quote:—Store bullocks, £4 18s 6d to £5 11s, fat cows £4 15s to £5 17s, fresh and forward do. £3 17s to £4 7s, store do. £2 15s to £3 2s Gd, 2 to 3-year old steers £4 to £4 12s 6d, yearling sreers £2 15s to £3_ ss, 2-year heifers £3 15s to £4 ss, 15 to 18-month do. £3 5s to £3 12s (id, yearling do. £2 10s to £3 2s, bulls £3 to £5 15s. At Kaponga on Friday, 23rd, we had a smaller yarding than usual but ruling prices were fully maintained. Fat cows made £5 10s to £5 15s, fresh do. £3 18s to £4 4s, store to fresh do. £3 2s 6d to £3 17s, yearling steers £2 17s, yearling heifers 43s Gd to £2 IGs and £3 2s Gd.
