The returns for the long jump event have now readied the lion, secretary of the Taranaki Rugby Union, and the following is the result: —Carroll (Stratford) 16ft. 6in., 40 marks, Ist ; Crone (New Plymouth) 16ft. pin., 30 marks, 2nd; Bacon (New Plymouth) loft. 2in., 25 marks, 3rd. ' The outstanding features of tins year’s competitions are the excellent performances put up by Carroll and Crone. The maximum number of marks obtainable in the athletic competition is 305.
