THE WOOL MARKET. London, November 23. Wheat—An Australian cargo sold for 355. „ Wool. —At the Antwerp salss /GoS bales of La Plata were offered and 1592 sold. The buyers were numerous and the bidding irregular. Fine wool sold from five to ten centimes below September rates, whilst crossbred were unchanged. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co.’s. Weekly Report. , The New Zealand IGoan and Mercantile Agenc} 7 Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report:— On Friday, 17th instant, we held our usual monthly sale - at our 'le Wcra yards, when there was a full yarding and practically everything was sold under fair competition at the following prices Yearling to 15-month steers 52s 6d to 625, 12 to 15-month heifers 56s to 58s, 2yr empty heifers 77s'6d to 85s, 2-year dairy heifers 80s to *965, dairy coivs 105 s to 1255. On Saturday, 18th • November, we held our usual weekly springing heifer sale in our Stratford yards. There was a good yarding and the quality of the stuff whs fair, and prices realised were up to full ’ market values. Dairy heifers in milk 90s to 122s' 6d, springers in low condition 100 s up to (for better conditioned stuff) 177 s Gd, dairy cows 127 s 6d to 167 s 6d. On Monday, 20th instant, we held a supplementary bull fair in our Stratford yards, when we were w : ell supported with an entry of 93 bulls, a large proportion of which were sold. The stock offered were from poor quality to medium quality, and consequently a considerable number oi this class were passed in. Besides, the bulls offered were too small use with any tiling except heifers. There •were some Shorthorn bulls from Hawke’s Bay which attracted considerable attention and made full values. Holstein cattle seemed to be the favourites. Prices were as.follows: 2-year old Holsteins made up to 13 gns, 2-year-old Shorthorn from Hi gns to 12i guineas, 18 to 20-month Jerseys from 6 gns to 8J gns,_ yearling Shorthorns and other qualities realised from 3| to 4 gns. On Tuesday ,_ 21st Instant, w;o held our first combined cattle fair in conjunction with Messrs Young, Hobbs and Co., and although the weather in the morning was the most boisterous and roughest that was ever experienced in Taranaki we bolive, there was a largo yarding as well as a large attendance of local buyers, also buyers from Hawera, Wanganui, and from as far as Palmerston North. The demand for younger cattle was not so good as previously and a large number of this class were passed in under the hammer,- and disposed of afterwards. The combined sale seemed to work satisfactorily and those present seemed to think the idea a good one. Several lines of grown bullocks which were advertised did not come in owing_ to tKo difficulty of mustering. Prices were: 15-month heifers 52s 6d to 625, 15-month steers 49s 6d to 555, 2-year empty heifers 67s 6d to 85s, 2-year steers 74s to 78s, 3-year steers 975, fonvard bullocks 117 s 6d to 121 s, store cows (quality not too good) 52s to 755, forward cows (showing size under fair demand) 90s to 945, fat cows (keenly competed for) 115 s to 121 s, j a lino of Jersey-Holstein-Ayrshire | cross heifers on account of a Mahoe client were passed at 775. Ewes real-1 ised 9s 3d. I

The N.Z.L. and M.A. Co. has received the following advice from its London house:—' “The dates of the London wool sales for 1912 are fixed as under: Ist series, 16th Januaryj 2nd otli March; 3rd. 30th April; 4th, 9th July; sth, 24th September; 6th, 26th November. The list of fresli arrivals, _as usual, to be closed eight days prior to the opening date of each series, unless the ‘limit’ he previously reached. In the case of the first three senes there is no limit, and for the remainder the limits, if any, will oe fixed later.
