In the Assembly Mr Earle, Loader ■of the Labour Party, opposed the travelling allowance of the Governor being included in the estimates. He declared a State Governor was unnecessary, and that the proper link between the State and the Throne was the Governor-General. If the peq-j pie wanted pomp and show in their ceremonies, let them pay for it. It was only a tin-pot aristocrat that wanted “kow-towing” to as Governor,; or who desired to travel to this place or that.

In the Assembly Mr. Minahan moved in favour of the abolition of the tied house System, and asked Government to appoint h Royal Commission to enquire' into the subject. He declared that ninety-nine per cent, of Sydney’s hotels were tied. The real evil was that brewers would not accept payment of the debts on hotels, and ninety per cent, of hotelkeepers would settle with the brewers if given an opportunity to do so. Other members enlarged on the growing evil of the system. Air. Bruntnall declared that many hotels were tied for everything except the sawdust on their floors. The debate was adjourned.

THE ARBITRATION BILL. (Received 22, 9.15 a.m.) Melbourne, November 22. The House has adopted the Senate’s amendments of the Arbitration Bill, giving the Court power to take action if a dispute arose outside the 'scope of any agreement between parties.
