In consequence of Mr LloydGeorge’s unsatisfactory reply to the suggested amendment to the Bill, the Royal College of Surgeons has decided not to assist the insurance scheme. USE OF ( THE CLOSURE. FACILITATES PASSAGE OF THE BILL., London, November 17. In the House of Commons eighteen clauses of the Insurance Bill passed in four minutes, with the aid of the closure. The majority of the Opposition quitted the chamber. The Grand Committee has concluded the consideration of the unemployment clauses of the Bill. V a— . EXTENDING THE FRANCHISE. NOT A WINDOW-DRESSING SUGGESTION. London, November 17. The Master of Elibank, speaking at Walhain. 1 Green, warned Unionists that the proposed extension _ of the franchise was no window-dressing suggestion. The Government was determined to pass the Bill, which was in accordance with the democratic demands. of the country. A meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party, while welcoming adult suffrage, reiterated its demand for the extension of the franchise to women.
