TUTUTAWA NOTES.
(Kiomi Our Own Correspondent.) Last week /caused a stir in Tututaw.i over tlie County election, when Mr. it. W. Darrou (Tntutawa) anci Mr. J. Young (I’unowhakau) contestod tiie neat for the Maugaehu Riding, the hall being engaged for polling, Mr. W. J. Simpson acting as returning officer. Although Tntutawa stood toYheir man (15 to nil), the top end of the district was too strong for ns. We have to compliment Air. Young on his victory, and trust he will make an efficient member. W,e have no reason to think otherwise. . Since last, writing, the annual school examination" took place by Mr. Wbettor, and both teacher and parents should fool gratified at the results. ’liie children did exceedingly well, andi ithvas-noticeable that “excellent” was ;in most cases obtained in twooor more cases in each standard. When yon come to think that Mrs. McMillan'has every class from j>_ I. to S. VI., and the- school has about- fifteen 1 children, 1 : yon will see tlio amount of work which she has successfully undertaken. So fur wo have escaped the prevailing epidemic—measles, though the Mangaohu School, three miles away, was closed on account of it, and just now the Punewliakau School. A school concert is the next thing talked about now. The children have boon working ton.hard for the exam, to think about it before, but a start is to be made at once to have it ready before breaking-up for Xmas holidays.
