UNA COVER’S DEATH.
MOTHER’S EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Received 16, 9.40 a.m.) Sydney, November 16. At the inquest on Una Cover, Mrs. Cover stated that when Lawless arrived lie appeared friendly. Ho had lunch. Later on he complained that witess was not the same old mate she used to' be. She replied that she hoped they would always he friends. Lawless declared that ho wanted more than friendship. Witness said that could never be. Next thing she know was the report of a rifle, and felt the shot in her head. She heard another shot. Lawless said that Una was dead, and that ho was going to set fire to the house. While witness was running away Lawless shot her twice. She escaped with two children, and walked to a neighbour’s, four miles away • Lawless was committed for trial for murder.
