METHODIST CHURCH.

WANGANUI DISTRICT SYNOD. The above synod met in Ministerial session on Tuesday morning at Wesley ■Church, Rawer a. The president of the conference welcomed the ministers. The Revs. J. W. Burton, of New Plymouth, delivered an address on “A Minister and His Books.” The Rev. A. B. Chappell, M.A., followed with a paper on “The Pastor as a Teacher.” The Session" concluded with the communion service. The ministerial resumed at 2 p.m. There were present: Revs. G. W. J. Spence (president of the conference), W. Canned, J. A. Luxford, C. Griffin", C. C. Harrison, J. ,W. Griffin, W. S. Bowie, A. B. Chappell, M.A., J. W. Burton, W. Wills, R. P. Haddou, E. W. Boys, E D. Dispensations were granted to Revs. T. G. Hammond, C. E. Bcocroft,.. G. Erost imd T. T. Thomas, B.A. 1 Reference's wem made to tho death of Rev. G. S. Harper. The Revs. W. Cannell and J. A. Luxford were requested to prepare a suitable obituary notice for insertion, in, the journal. , i. ~

It' was decided, to' recommend Conference to '"permit Rev. F. W. Boys, of Hawera, to visit England next year. ,

The Synod . '(after hearing reports oh circuit work, trial sermons, and book lists, recommended that Revs. A. Allen,'W. A. Biirloy, M.A., J, Richards, and L. B. Neale, pass in their various years of probation, subject to their written examinations proving satisfactory.
