Newton King's Weekly Report. On Monday at my supplementary bull fair at Stratford I had only a fair entry, but a good attendance of the public. The quality of the bulls yarded was not so good as at my former sale, but the good beasts yarded were eagerly competed for and sold well. Jersey grades £7 15s to £l(3, poorer class £5 to £7 os, 2 year Shorthorn £8 10s, yearling Jersey £2 os to £5, yearling shorthorns £3 5s to £4 15s, pedigree Jersey bull “Dominion Day” 11 guineas, pedigree Ayrshire bull (poor) £4 15s. - V At my springing heifer yards on Tuesday, the 7th inst., I had a good entry and attendance. Taken all through, prices were higher than at last week’s sale. Choice springers £6 12s Gd to £8 10s. others £3 to £5 15s, cows (calved) £6 15s to £8 10s. On the same day at Rahotu I had a fair entry, including a good number of bulls which were not in demand. Store and forward cows sold well, and yearling to 15 months cattle met with fair demand; yearling to 18 months heifers 37s to £2 17s, 15 months steers £2 7s to £2 15s, poorer 26s to 375, 2 year empty heifers £3 16s to £3 19s, 2-year steers £4 2s, fat steers £4 19s, forward cows £3 18s to £4 6s, store cows £3 2s 6d to £3 9s 6d, yearling bulls 35s to £4 10s, pedigree 1 Jersey do. 10 to 15 guineas. There was a good entry at Waiwakaiho on Thursday, 9th instant, and a good attendance of the public. Yearlings .met with good demand, but the springing heifers were’poor in quality and sold accordingly. Yearling to 15-month heifers £2 7s to £3, 13s 6d, mixed yearlings 31s to £2 4s, yearling to 15-month steers £2 10s (3d to £2 13s 6d, 2-year empty heifers £3 13s to £4j 2-year steers £4 to £4 13s, store cows £2 to £3 13s 6d, forward cows £3 16s Gd to £4 16s 6d, yearling bulls 23s 6d to £2 2s •6d, yearling Holstein bull £4 15s, 2-yoar Jersey bull £5, 2-year Shorthorn bull £7 15s, springing heifers £4 5s to £6 15s, cows in milk £3 7s 6d to £Bi A nice lino of mixed 15-month to'2-year Jersey heifers on account of Mr H. C. Sampson elicited keen inquiry and sold for £5 4s. During the week I have ; sold privately at the, following , pricey:. Matthews and Bennett’s Report. Messrs. Mrtthews and Bennett leport that there was a very large entry of cattle in their Inglewod yards on Wednesday last. Prices were good. We quote:—Store cows £2 to £3 16s, bulls £3 to i£6, forward cows £4 to £4 Ss, steers £3 5s 6d to £3 7s 6d, empty heifers £3 10s to £4 ISs, springers £3 15s to £7 12s 6d, dairy cows £5 to £B. There was a large entry of horses in their Inglewood fair on the 3rd inst. Good horses were in demand, but there was no sale for poor stuff. Good light farmers’ horses made from £lO to £l4 ss, half draught £lB to £25, good hacks from £8 15s to £l4, weeds £1 19s to £4, light unbroken horses £7 to £ls.
