thei Appeal, Council. -'- The Buffer Union appealed to the committee to_settle the; deadlock which had arisen, with the Marlborough Union: regarding the competition for the Seddori, Shield.—The committee decided, that, it had no jurisdiction in the case, but would act as arbitrator, provided all the unions concerned agreed. A letter was received from Maurice P. Epstein, Kimberley, Griqualand West, proposing to bring over a South African coloured rugby team. The letter stated: “This South African coloured team would be composed of purely coloured colonials and all trained ' athletes,, well.up in the game, and the .majority, of them will be what wc call here... •internationals,’ as having played, in representative matches.;. in tournaments-; 'against the Transvaal, Orange River Colony, and Cape Colony. They would be prepared to play as? many matches as could be arranged, three per week if necessary, and would accept any reasonable guarantee per match. They would pay. all their own expenses and would bfnig-twenty-seven more; to follow ..if necessary.
