PEOPLE’S DAY. Notwithstanding the boisterous and threatening weather, there was a big attendance at Hawera Show yesterday* the rain holding off in the aitoriioon. There was a very line exhibition of stock worthy of the province, and the parade, as usual, attracted much interest. The class for dairy cows, any brood, 4yrs. and over, in actual milk, produced twelve entries, and was a strong class. The first prize was awarded to Mr J. C. Montefiorc’s Joan, and the second to 1). Watkins’ Cherry’s Fairy, both Jersey-Ayrshire crosses. The third award also went to a Jersey-Ayr shire cross owned by Fred Mills, of Tokoaro. A Shorthorn owned by J. C. Wright, of Matapu, was highly commended. S. it. Lancaster’s Foxes’ Star and Noathcad, purebred Jerseys, were respectively first and second in dairy heifer calved since July 1, 1908. Geo. Stringer, ■Hawera, secured third prize with ■Lady Monty. In this class the judges Considered that It. J. Linn’s Campanile’s Rose Queen would probably have secured the premiership but for a -blemished teat. First prize for springer, any age, went to Dr. Noonan’s Fury. S. it.
