’’ , • ). I ■ i o EIGHT MEN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Per 'Press Association.) in- Wellington, November 9. At the Police Court to-day eight wharf labourers elected/to ho tried Injury on a charge of theft of 121bs. of tobacco from the steamer Moana on October 27th. The evidence was to tlie effect that the cases were in good order when stowed in Melbourne. On discharging in Wellington a case .was found damaged, aud tobacco was missing. Accused were working in the hold. When being searched, one (Young) dropped a plug on the floor. All tlie defendants wore committed for trial.
