AGAINST COMPULSORY TRAINING.
(Per Press Association.) • ■ , i Wellington, November 9. Delegates ’ representing the various anti-militarist leagues in “New Zealand met at Wellington to-day. Mr. Bedford, in welcoming the delegates, said good work nad been done. Despite the misrepresentation and ridicule of the press, the movement had resulted in the Government backing down to'a certain extent. Reports from delegates stated that the movement against compulsory military training was gaining ground all over the Dominion. A GAMING APPEAL. REGARDING BETTING CARDS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, November. 9. The appeal of Scott and Martindale against their conviction by the Magistrate for publishing a notification relating to betting, was heard by Mr. Justice Chapman to-day. • The. contention of appellate was that there was no proof that they had posted betting cards, ’which formed the subject of the prosecution. Judgment was reserved.
