COMMERCIAL BANK AND TASMANIAN LETTERS.

Wellington, November 8. The Post Office has received back from Tasmania several thousand letters for the Commercial Bank of Tasmania at Hobart or Launceston, containing remittances for investment in Tattorsall’s sweeps. The Department learns that the recent embargo placed on correspondence for the bank was removed on the bank undertaking to refuse to deliver such letters.

Eeilding November 9. Mr. F. Pirani, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, has again forwarded a protest to the Premier and the chief electoral officer against the use of public schools on election days, where other public buildings were available, and he informed the latter that every means will lie adopted to prevent access to school buildings in such cases. Ihe examinations were long ago fixed for December 7th, and the awkwardness of taking the schools is considerably accentuated.
